“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich” (2 Corinthians 8:9)

He had everything. He lacked nothing. He had the eternal praise of the angels. But then He left His treasure, He became poor, He became the poorest of the poor- born in a stable, laid in a manger, people cast lots for His clothing, He was nailed to a cross, and worst of all – He even lost the love of God Himself as He hung on the cross. “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”
You see, Jesus became poor, He left His treasure. Why? In order to make you His treasure! In order to give you the riches of the forgiveness of your sins and peace with God. In order to give you His eternal treasure.
That means, you can make Him the ultimate treasure of your life. You can value Him more than anything else in the world. You can make Him and His Word more important than anything else in the world.
Treasured by my Savior, just like you,
pastor
