“The next day, the one after the Preparation Day, the chief priests and the Pharisees went to Pilate. ‘Sir,’ they said, ‘we remember that while he was still alive that deceiver said, ‘After three days I will rise again.’ So give the order for the tomb to be made secure until the third day.’” (Matthew 27:62-64)
What happened on Saturday of Holy Week? On Saturday the religious leaders were nervous. “Maybe those disciples will come and steal the body and claim that this Jesus rose from the dead. we better make sure that the tomb is secure.” So they asked Pilate and he ordered that the tomb be secure with guards and the governor’s seal.
They had their purpose…but God used their actions for His. By making sure that the tomb was secure they helped ensure that there was no deception that could take place, that Jesus’ body had to remain in the tomb until Sunday morning.
That’s your God. He can make even evil actions serve His purposes. So, when things happen in life that don’t make sense, remember who your God is: He’s the God who makes all things work out to serve His eternal purposes!
Thankful for God’s control, just like you,
