“The whole assembly then agreed to celebrate the festival seven more days; so for another seven days they celebrated joyfully” (2 Chronicles 30:23)
“Deck the halls with boughs of holly…tis the season to be jolly…” I’m guessing you’ve heard that song at some point already these days leading up to Christmas. Christmas is often filled with a bunch of celebrating, right?
How do you feel about that? Perhaps we’re tempted to fall into the sinful world’s celebration of treasuring mainly things, gifts, food, and drink at Christmas time. But on the other side, perhaps we’re tempted to be filled with disgust and scorn at the empty trappings of materialism and commercialism which we see all around us at Christmas.
So, how should we feel about Christmas?
Prepare for the King with king Hezekiah by celebrating! But celebrate for the right reason. Celebrate the love of God the Father to send His own Son into the world to save us. Celebrate the glory of the one and only full of grace and truth come into our world to rescue us! Celebrate Jesus’ undying love to be born so lowly, to be placed in a manger, all in order to go to the cross to forgive all your sins!
Celebrate that and you’ll have an enjoyable and meaningful Christmas!
Celebrating Jesus’ birth with my life, just like you,
