“Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, because through Christ Jesus the law of the spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death” (Romans 8:1).
In this verse, God tells us that he has given us the law of the spirit of life through Jesus’ death and that, in and of itself, guarantees our salvation through Christ Jesus. So what does this mean to “be in Christ Jesus”? It means that we feed the spirit of life that God gave us and grow in his Word. God feeds our spirit of life through our baptism, by receiving the Lord’s Supper regularly, by regularly attending church to hear his Word, by regularly reading and understanding his Word, etc. God needs to be a priority in our lives. He tells us in Romans 8 that if we are not in Christ and live by our sinful nature, we will die. But, “There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus!” Therefore, let us daily be in Christ Jesus and do those things that please God instead of our own sinful desires.
Read Romans chapter 8 in its entirety for further understanding of this blessing.
Now go to others with the knowledge you have gained from God’s Word. Do not keep these truths to yourself, but share the good news that it is God who saves us. It is God who gives us faith. It is God who gives us grace and it is God who has done everything for our salvation. Tell them God does all these things because he loves us unconditionally.
May God bless you and grant you his peace, especially the peace he gives you in Romans 8:1!
