“The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, ‘We have found the Messiah” (that is, the Christ). And he brought him to Jesus” (John 1:41-42)
We’ve enjoyed some really nice weather up here in Bemidji these past few weeks, but it will likely turn cold soon. Perhaps even having snow sooner than later 🙂 Undoubtedly, when we get a substantial amount of snow, there will be children making snowmen. In order to make a large snowball, you start with something really small, but then as it travels more and more snow is packed on until you have a large snowball.
That’s kind of the way sharing the gospel works. It’s a chain-reaction, a domino effect, a snowball effect. Here John the Baptist pointed Jesus out to two of his followers, Andrew (one of them), then went to find his brother. Every time we hear about Andrew he’s bringing people to Jesus (John 6:8-9, John 12:22)
Someone did that for you too. Someone brought you to the baptismal font. Someone took the time to share the message of Jesus and His forgiveness with you. Someone loved you so much that they shared their most important and precious possession with you, their faith.
You’re part of this great snowball effect of the Christian Church! So thank the Lord for the “Andrew” He sent to bring you to Jesus! And who are you going to be an “Andrew” to in your life?
Rejoicing that I’m part of Jesus’ eternal Church, just like you,
pastor
