“Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world” (Matthew 25:34).

What are you looking forward to?  The upcoming holidays filled with friends, family, and festivities?  Some fun winter activities? Finishing a project you’ve been working on?  What are you looking forward to?

It’s great to look forward to things.  But there’s one ultimate thing that we’re looking forward to.  On the Last Day Jesus will come as THE King Eternal, THE Lord God, THE Judge.  At first, that might sound a bit intimidating and terrifying.  Me, standing before the eternal God who knows every single bad thing I’ve ever done, every single immoral thought I’ve had, every shameful word I’ve spoken…I’m not so sure about this?!?

But who is this Judge before whom we will stand?  None other than Jesus, your Savior, the Good Shepherd who laid His life down on the cross to rescue you!  The Judge is the same Jesus who forgave all your sins and worked in you faith to believe it!  And on that Day He will assure you that your sins are forgiven, that He has removed them as far as the east is from the west.  He will say to you, “Come, you who are blessed by my Father, take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.”

What an awesome day that will be!  That’s something to look forward to!

Anticipating the Day of my Lord’s return, just like you,
