“You my sheep, the sheep of my pasture, are people, and I am your God, declares the Sovereign LORD.” (Ezekiel 34:31)
Sheep are known for not being very smart, for often wandering away, for being skittish and fearful, for being practically defenseless against predators. It’s not very flattering for God to picture us like sheep.
We wander away from Him and His Word, we fill ourselves with fear instead of faith, we walk right into sin and danger for our souls.
And yet what does God say? You’re mine. You are my sheep, you are my people. God thought so much of you that Jesus, your Good Shepherd, laid His life down on a cross to rescue you eternally! That’s how much He wants you as His sheep…forever!
And He promises that He will lead you to springs of living water and bring you safely to the heavenly pastureland.
I’m thankful for having Jesus, my Good Shepherd, just like you,
