“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed…’ and he [Jesus] began by saying to them, ‘Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.'” (Luke 4:18-21)
What are you waiting for? We often look forward to things in life. “Everything will finally be better for my life when I’m through this.” “My life will finally be good someday when that happens.”
But did you notice what Jesus said? He said, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.” Today means today. Jesus’ work has an ever-present value! Because you have a Savior who walked in this world completely according to God’s will, because you have a Savior who was pierced for your transgressions, and because you have a Savior who victoriously came back to life, you have good news!
He’s made you rich, eternally rich! He’s set you free from Satan’s tyranny and sin’s slavery! He’s given you sight to see who you really are – a redeemed child of God. He’s released you from the oppression of sin to live without guilt and accusation.
And when? Jesus said, “Today.” It’s yours…today!
Forgiven and free from guilt today, just like you,
pastor
